The report noted that Sneed was not in the vehicle at the time and was only detained for questioning. Kansas City Chiefs cornerback L’Jarius Sneed’s car was “shot up” in Minden, Louisiana — his hometown — as first reported by TMZ Sports. The report noted that Sneed was not in the vehicle at the time. Police said the cornerback had not been accused of any wrongdoing.
TMZ: According to a department spokesperson, Sneed’s Ford Bronco — which the 25-year-old football player was not an occupant in at the time — was hit by bullets ... and Sneed later showed up on the scene to check things out.
We’re told Sneed and others were detained on the scene and questioned by officers, but ultimately, Sneed was not arrested and not charged with a crime ... and was let go.
Sources close to Sneed say two of his friends were driving the vehicle at the time ... and believe the shooting was random.

Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce joined ESPN's Joe Buck and Michael Collins as part of the network's alternate PGA Championship broadcast. Buck recently jumped from Fox to ESPN to call "Monday Night Football."
(By the way, that means Buck and color analyst Troy Aikman will be on the broadcast of the Chiefs' Week 5 "Monday Night Football" matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders.)
While chatting with Kelce, the Buck and Collins brought up the 13-second drive that led to the Chiefs' Divisional Round win over the Buffalo Bills.
“But the 13 seconds, I remember the Bills called a timeout,” remembered Kelce. “I’m looking at [Patrick Mahomes], and I’m just trying to be discreet as possible to tell him, ‘Hey, if they play it like that, I’m wide open.’

Knowing the details of Ingram’s new deal in Miami, it’s a little clearer why he didn’t return to Kansas City. When former Kansas City Chiefs defensive end Melvin Ingram was reported to have been signed to the Miami Dolphins, the original report was that he was signing a one-year contract worth $5 million.
We now have a breakdown of the deal from ESPN’s Field Yates.
Melvin Ingram's deal with the Dolphins: - $1.65M signing bonus- $1.67M base salary- $680K in per-game roster bonuses ($40K/game)- $250K Pro Bowl bonus- Up to $750K in playtime/sack and team defense incentives - Cap charge: $3.92M— Field Yates (@FieldYates) May 19, 2022
These numbers do add up to $5 million for 2022, with something between $1.7 and $3.9 million guaranteed. But this year’s salary-cap charge of $3.9 million means that $1.1 million of the various incentives are considered not-likely-to-be-earned (NLTBE) in 2022. If Ingram meets all of them, he’ll earn the Collapse

Putting some numbers on the Chiefs’ roster continuity going into 2022. With organized team activities and mandatory minicamp looming, the Kansas City Chiefs’ offseason roster now stands at a full 90 players. Tinkering with the roster will continue to happen — and veteran additions are still possible — but we can start thinking about what the team will look like when players report to Missouri Western State University at the end of July. In particular, the offense appears to be all but set in stone.
After winning Super Bowl LIV, the Chiefs prioritized continuity for the 2020 season — bringing back virtually the entire offense. A year later, Kansas City completely overhauled the offensive line, while leaving most other position groups relatively intact.
This offseason, however, has seen much higher turnover — particularly among running backs and wide receivers. Now that the team is officially through trying to “Run it Back,” let’s break down Collapse

Ross missed 2020 and had 2021 cut early due to surgeries. Of all the Kansas City Chiefs’ 2022 undrafted free agents to agree to terms with the club, former Clemson wide receiver Justyn Ross has drawn the most attention.
As described by head coach Andy Reid, the 22-year-old was “knocking the rust off” during the team’s recent three-day rookie minicamp after he missed Clemson’s 2020 season due to spinal surgery and his final college go in 2021 ended early due to a foot injury.
Recently, Ross’ college coach, Dabo Swinney, spoke to reporters about what he expected for Ross on NFL Draft weekend.
“I knew he could be anywhere from fourth round to free agent,” Swinney told reporters, according to ClemsonSports.com’s Matt Connolly. “I didn’t know that only four teams actually cleared him medically. The numbers will likely change as the offseason unfolds, but we now have all of the current ones. The Kansas City Chiefs have now updated their official roster page on the Mothership. For the first time this offseason, it lists numbers for every player on the current 90-man roster.
As is often the case at this time of year, there are some duplicate numbers. The team usually takes care to make sure there are no duplicates in offensive and defensive units — which is currently the case. And it’s not entirely unknown for players to wear different numbers in workouts than are shown on the team’s official roster page.
Also as usual... the team’s new update only represents the numbers players are wearing now. As the roster is trimmed, some players will change to different numbers.

This time last year, Riddick had the same eye on Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith. We have noted on these pages before that when ESPN’s Louis Riddick speaks on the Kansas City Chiefs, we listen closely. The NFL analyst was the pro personnel director for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2010-12 — the same time a scout named Brett Veach was in the building.
Around this time last year, Riddick became the first to identify that then-rookie offensive linemen Creed Humphrey and Trey Smith might be starters. He was right about that — though he wasn’t so right about tight end Noah Gray... yet.
On Friday, Riddick tweeted a list of Day 2 and Day 3 players from the 2022 NFL Draft that he’s keeping “an eye on” — rookies that could be “major impact players by Year 3 or sooner.”
And on that list for the Chiefs was fifth-round offensive lineman Darian Kinnard.

The Chiefs’ right tackle situation is fluid, to say the least. Veteran Andrew Wylie could take over there, as could Lucas Niang if healthy. Kinnard’s power on the edge, however, and Wylie’s value as a sixth man if there is an injury at another spot on the line, might force the rookie into the starting lineup sooner than later. The team plugged in first-year players Trey Smith and Creed Humphrey last year, so it’s not a huge leap to think they’ll do the same if Kinnard’s length and strong grip impress this summer.

Kansas City is in pretty good shape when it comes to their young offensive line. On Tuesday, football analytics website Pro Football Focus released its list of the top 25 players under 25 entering the 2022 NFL season. The Kansas City Chiefs landed one player in the article — their second-year starting center, Creed Humphrey.
16. C CREED HUMPHREY, KANSAS CITY CHIEFS
Humphrey’s rookie campaign was sensational. He played the most snaps of any rookie offensive lineman (1,184) and notched the best grade, too (91.4). In fact, his elite overall grade was fourth-highest for all offensive linemen and first among all centers. He and fellow rookie Trey Smith were a big reason the Kansas City Chiefs’ offensive line was as improved as it was in 2021.
It was an incredible start to Humphrey’s career, especially considering he opted out of the 2020 college football season.

Chiefs dead cap: 4 players account for nearly $8 million | Chiefs Wire
Gone are the days of paying for past contract sins for the Kansas City Chiefs.
Right now, the Chiefs rank near the top of the NFL in effective salary cap space, with $14,755,982 available per Over The Cap. One of the reasons that their cap space is in such a good spot is because they’re not paying out a ton of dead money to players who are no longer on the team. For instance, Kansas City stopped paying for the contract handed out to Eric Berry just last season.
The Chiefs actually rank seventh in the NFL with just over $7.9 million in dead cap space according to Over The Cap. Only six NFL teams have less dead cap owed than Kansas City. They’re paying dead money on just four contracts right now, though, that number could increase as we get closer to the season.

The Chiefs’ receiving corps looks a lot different, and their schedule starts off with a punishing set of opponents. Last season, Kansas City used motion on an NFL-high 808 snaps, which indicates that they have lots of wrinkles in their playbook, so it could take some time for the overhauled WR group to get up to speed.
On the plus side, K.C. still has the same superstar at quarterback. Patrick Mahomes had the second-best passer rating on quick passes (115.8 on throws made in under 2.5 seconds) and led the league with a 73.8 completion percentage against the blitz. Packers’ Jaire Alexander Extension Sets Up Parallel to Chiefs | Sports Illustrated
Both the Packers and Chiefs have top-shelf franchise quarterbacks losing No. 1 receivers. Both have young players at premium, nonreceiver positions to pay now (Alexander for the Packers, Orlando Brown Jr. for the Chiefs), with more possible in the near future (Rashan Gary for the Packers, L’Jarius Sneed for the Chiefs), and some already on the payroll (David Bakhtiari, Preston Smith for the Packers; Frank Clark for the Chiefs).
So does a true franchise quarterback really need the type of No. 1 receiver that can open things up for everyone else? Or are you better off sinking a little less into the skill spots, shooting to be more balanced there, and maintaining the ability to win different types of games?
Aaron Rodgers and Patrick Mahomes are about to give us a good litmus test on that.

And he did a darn good job morphing the Hill trade into quality youthful players. However, McDuffie was an overpayment in Round 1. He has a very high floor though. Karlaftis is the exact type of NFL-ready edge rusher the defense needed to alleviate attention from Chris Jones inside.
